Top 5 Netflix Shows & Films to watch during lock down
Number 5: The Platform
A slab of food descends floor by floor in a prison. The inmates above eat heartily, leaving those below starving and desperate. As you can imagine, shit will go down very quickly! This Spanish thriller directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia has been an amazing discovery for me during this lock down, and I’m sure you will love it too. It is one of these films that will have you on the edge of your site until the end and will leave you thinking about it for a couple days!
Number 4: Tiger King
Where do I even start with Tiger King? This is one of those things you just need to watch! If when you watch a Disney film you always fall in love with the villains, this is definitely your show. Every single person that appears in this documentary is VILE! You have probably seen hundreds of memes online, it is time you find out about this crazy story.
Number 3: Ru Paul’s Drag Race
This international sensation has the whole world hooked! And to be honest, an immense amount of content that will keep you busy for the whole quarantine. 12 seasons of Drag Race America, 4 seasons of All Stars and 1 season of Drag Race UK! If you are reading this, chances are you probably watch Drag Race already, but if you don’t, it’s time for you to fall into Mama Ru’s loving arms. If you are not convinced by the sound of it, I think you should still give it a go, maybe try All Stars Season 2, if that doesn’t hook you, you are a lost cause.
Number 2: Black Mirror
Don’t you feel we are currently living in a Black Mirror episode at the moment? If you haven’t watched any of the seasons, this is your time to binge watch it all! If you have never seen it, it is basically a British dystopian science fiction comedy-drama anthology television series created by Charlie Brooker. The best part of it is that you can see how the alternate realities are really not that far away from ours, which makes it a bit creepy! Also, each episode is a different story so you can start watching any episode from any season. My favourite episode ever is San Junipero, Season 3, which won 2 Emmy Awards!
Number 1: Skins (Pieles)
I need to warn you, this will probably be the weirdest film you will ever watch! Just to get it out of the way, one of the main characters is a super sweet looking ginger girl who happens to have an anus for a mouth. It is my guiltiest pleasure when it comes to films, not only because of how outrageous it is, but because of how curated the visuals and art direction are. The film tells the tragic story of different quirky characters in a pastel universe and is directed by Eduardo Casanova, a queer icon in Spain. If you do watch it, please let me know what you thought of it!
